3. Show and Tell

Dave Peck brought in a beautiful turned bowl with scenes of Yosemite which he plans to exhibit at the AMS show.

Ron G. made a prototype of an edge banding for a bookshelf that spells out "books" in Morse Code (-...  ---  ---  -.-  ...).

Bob H. shared a box with marquetry and parquetry covering all sides. It is a tribute to Dave Peck and the designs showcase the classes and demos he has taught.
Jamie and Bill V. salvaged the clock face that buckled and split. They poured a thick layer of epoxy on top and finished it.

Bob also showed us a picture of a marquetry piece depicting his church. This piece was shown at the Redwood Empire Fair.

Rob R. showed us a slideshow of his furniture which included a Murphy Bed that showcased a Mariner's compass and a fleur de lis pattern.
Thank you to Rob for bringing veneer to share with the group and for donating the book, "Modern Marquetry Handbook" to the club's library.

Dave Fifield brought in the marquetry picture of the car that he was commissioned to finish by the great grandson of the artist.

Dave Peck made a parquetry jig and Ken H. was the winner.

Ron G. won the "Show and Tell" prize of a ruler.
4. Demo

A Parquetry Demo was led by Dave Peck. He showed us how to use a simple jig to create strips and angle cuts to make the pieces for Louis Cube patterns. He laid out the pieces on some shelf liner (sticky-backed plastic), then applied apptape to the front before removing it from the shelf liner backing. He also showed us a Micro-Mate Chopper (800-225-1066) that uses a razor blade.  We then broke into 4 groups and each group was responsible for making a 7.5" x 7.5" Louis Cube variation that Dave Fifield will incorporate into a slotted box for the upcoming AMS show.
